Front Load Washer Smell

The front load washer smell can occur for some reasons. The unpleasant smell on the front load washer comes in the form of mold and mildew. Water in the boot becomes the most common cause of the smell. In fact, some front loaders have a rubber boot and this part has been popular as a good feature of a washing machine since several decades ago. However, it brings some risks too, including the moisture which is left in the boot. To reduce the risks, you can dry the boot by using a towel once you finished laundering the clothes. After doing this step, do not close the washer door for few minutes.

Another cause of front load washer smell is the animal fat. It is not about the fat on your clothes, but the animal fat in liquid detergent. As we know, some factories use animal fat to produce their detergents, thus you should be careful of it. That’s why, the use of powder detergent is currently more recommended to avoid such problem. The powder one does not contain animal fat and thus it is much safer for washing machine. Fortunately, some factories produce the environmentally friendly powder detergents, but the price is surely higher than the liquid one.

The next possible cause of front load washer smell is the poor ventilation. Some washing machine does not come with the good vent to let the perfect circulation which enables the air moves perfectly through it. If your washing machine does not have the vent too, you may open the machine door when you do not launder the clothes. This step will be helpful to dry the machine’s boot very properly.

The Possible Solutions

You may use some recommended ideas above to anticipate the smell, but you do not have another choice except to reduce the smell when it has already come to the front load of your washing machine. You should perform a deep cleanse and do the recommended anticipation steps above to avoid the same problems back again. The deep cleaning can be started by running to cycles without any clothes in the washer. Instead, you can pour the bleach and vinegar into your washer or washing machine.

Anyway, you should pour (only) the bleach firstly. You can use for about three or four cups for this cleaning task and then pour the vinegar (three or four cups too) several minutes later. This can be done at least four times a year, but you can do it more often based on your need. By doing the right steps for removing the front load washer smell and starting the good habits to anticipate the mold and mildew, you will not only keep the cleanliness of your washer appropriately, but also let your washer lasts longer.
